The goal of the Klaprozenbuurt project is the transformation of an extensively used business park into a new mixed urban neighborhood with space for living, working and facilities. Klaprozenweg will change from an exclusively busy arterial road to a city street with a more attractive residential climate with shops and business premises in the plinth. Plot A1 where Urban Ivy is located is composed of variety of buildings, in order to both, create both a more human scale to the high density projected on the site and for future disassembly and function change. Each building has its own customised width for diversity of use. Each building has its own entrance to the street and its own internal vertical access. This access is linked to the collective inner area.
The design is an exponent of the new Amsterdam living experience, where connection, social cohesion, sustainability, diversity, inclusivity, proximity, meeting, health and affordability are leading principles in the design ambitions. As a community in a building, the design is composed of different buildings with different widths.
