TESLA POP UP SHOWROOM
What if you are a forward thinking company with a new exciting line of products and wanted to reach as many new customers as possible face to face? And what if you wanted to change your location as many times as you wanted and not be burdened by long rental leases in traditional shopping malls, high street lease constructions and places that do yet exist? What if you could go from concept to realization in 3 months time?
Now imagine an entire Tesla store that can be dismantled, fit on a flat bed trailer and be hauled anywhere in the country. That’s the idea behind Tesla pop up stores, with pop up stores in the USA and Europe. Designed in collaboration with Tesla’s in-house design team, Burton Hamfelt was asked by Tesla and Meka World to do the engineering design and manufacturing supervision of the first 4 of these units made in Almere, the Netherlands and Toronto, Canada.
What is remarkable is that the shipping container arrives and unfolds to double its size in just a few hours. The mobility and convenience of the design allows Tesla to bring their unique retail approach to customers in new locations where they do not yet have a brick-and-mortar location.” Once set up, the pop up stores are about 34 feet long and 20 feet deep. According to Tesla, people visiting the stores will be able to learn about electric driving with enticing visuals and interactive displays, as well as to test-drive the Model S.
